There is a wide range of opportunities for visitors to Montefiore to get out in the fresh air and get some exercise all year round. There are activities for the whole family. The following is a list of some of them.
Winter sports: Skiing and Snowboarding.
Sassotetto is the closest ski resort to Montefiore, and is easily accessible from the small town of Sarnano in the Sibillini mountains. It is the ideal resort for beginners, but also offers more challenging pistes and even off-piste opportunities. You can buy your ski pass (at 15 euros per day per adult) and hire all the necessary equipment here, and there are 10 ski lifts. There are two good restaurants in Sassotetto, and other facilities below the snowline, if you choose to make a weekend of it. There is a bus service from Sarnano up to the resort.

Golf
There are many opportunities to have a round of golf in Le Marche, but this is the closest for you if you are staying in Montefiore.
Golf Club ‘I Lauri’
The course has 9 Holes is PAR 70, and also offers a putting-green, a pitching-green, a golf-academy and a driving-range
The fees for 18 holes are 45 euros at weekends and holidays and 30 euros for weekdays.

Hang-gliding and Parascending
If you are looking for some more extreme aerial sports, the Aeroclub of the Sibilline mountains is the organisation for you. They offer courses for adults and children in paragliding, hang gliding and parascending from May to October.

Extreme sports: Kayaking, White Water Rafting, Climbing etc.
There are two excellent outdoor activity centres, both within an hour and a half’s drive from Montefiore. One is between the towns of Norcia and Visso, and offers a wide range of outdoor activities for people of all ages and abilities. You can choose between white water rafting , kayaking through gorges that are home to wolves and eagles, canyoning, hydrospeed, orienteering or free climbing, or most other mountain or water based extreme sports. Team building courses are also available. All are supervised by trained instructors at the Outdoor Activity Centre.

The second is slightly closer to Montefiore in the heart of Le Marche, on Lake Cingoli. The town of Cingoli is wonderful and worth visiting in its own right for its views, architecture and lake. It offers a similar range of activities.

Caving
Whether you are enthusiasts, or simply want to try a different experience, the Frasassi Caves have two adventure trails of varying difficulty (not to be confused with the general tourist trail): the blue trail (which lasts approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes and costs 35 Euros per person,) and the red trail (which lasts approximately 4 hours, costing 45 euro per person.). Small groups of visitors, over 12 years old, accompanied by expert guides, can pass through underground passages, narrow pathways and shafts and admire the splendid rooms concealed from the gaze of "normal" tourists. All the equipment needed is provided on site and included in the cost of the trail.

Diving and swimming
The warm, tranquil Adriatic is perfect for going for a swim from any of the many lovely beaches along the nearby coast. You can also swim in Lake Fiastra up in the mountains, but, if you are looking for sea diving or snorkelling, the best place is the Centro Sub Monte Conero, where you can start from scratch and get your diving certificate, or if already experienced you can go out and dive amongst the rocky outcrops in the warm, clean water of the Adriatic.

Sailing and windsurfing
If you are interested in learning how to sail on the tranquil waters of the Adriatic there are several options. The following are some contact details for sailing and windsurfing schools where you can take a course, or, if already adept, just hire a boat or a board. The closest is probably at Cupra Marittima, but there are good sailing schools in many of the small seaside resorts along the nearby coast.

Cycling
There are lots of user-friendly cycle paths in the seaside towns near Montefiore, and you can hire bikes in most of them. Just ask in the tourist office and they will give you information. There is also a national organisation called Veloce Italy which has outlets locally.

Horse Riding
You can go horse riding all year round in many areas. Several of the local agriturismo B and Bs also have horses available for trekking and learning to ride. There are also riding opportunities up in the lovely Sibillini mountain National Park areas. The following are two local options.
